Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Single & Active / CupidX (“the service”). By buying a ticket or using the app, you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the service.

These terms are drafted to comply with Norwegian consumer law. Any clause that Norwegian law (including the Contract Act / avtaleloven §36) would treat as unreasonable in your circumstances is enforceable only to the extent the law permits.

1. Who we are

Single & Active / CupidX (“we”, “us”) organises self-guided social hikes for singles ages 25–45. Contact: info@singlemingle.io.

2. Who can use the service

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Events target ages 25–45. You confirm your age at checkout; if you confirm “outside this range” you're automatically refunded.
  • You must be in reasonable physical condition for a moderate hike of the stated duration. See the participation waiver for details.
  • You must not have been previously banned from the service for code-of-conduct violations.

3. Tickets, pricing, refunds

Tickets are sold per-event at a fixed price shown at checkout (currently ~$35 USD equivalent in your local currency). Capacity is capped per event. Once sold out, the Stripe link auto-deactivates.

Refunds are governed by our separate Refund Policy. Events are specific-date leisure activities so the 14-day distance-sale withdrawal right does not apply (angrerettloven §22 and EU Directive 2011/83 Art. 16(l)), but we refund automatically if we cancel, if age attestation fails, or if the buyer is under 18.

4. What to expect at an event

  • Self-organised, not guided. We do not provide trail guides, medical staff, or emergency services. Participants gather at the meeting spot and walk together.
  • Group composition is best-effort. We aim for gender balance (roughly 1:1) but cannot guarantee it. If minimum attendance isn't met 48h before, we cancel and refund.
  • Weather. Hikes run in typical Norwegian weather. Severe-weather events are rescheduled or cancelled 24–48h ahead; you're refunded for cancellations.
  • You bring gear. Water, shoes, weather layers, charged phone — your responsibility.

5. Code of conduct

You will treat other participants, organisers, and the public with respect. The following are grounds for immediate removal and a lifetime ban, and may be reported to police where criminal conduct is alleged:

  • Harassment or unwanted physical contact
  • Discriminatory language or threats
  • Showing up intoxicated to the point of impairment, or becoming impaired during the hike
  • Soliciting for commercial or sexual services
  • Misrepresenting your identity, age, or intent
  • Photographing other participants without consent

6. Matching, photos, and chat

After an event, you can mark other participants as Spark, Connect, or Skip. If two people mutually Spark or Connect, the app opens a chat between them for 24 hours.

Your uploaded profile photo (optional) is visible only to other participants at the same event and is deleted 30 days after the event, or whenever you delete it yourself.

Matching produces no legal or similarly significant effect (GDPR Art. 22). You choose whether to chat with a match.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of any photo, text, or message you upload. You grant us a limited licence to store, display, and transmit that content to other participants at your event for the purpose of operating the service. We do not use your content for marketing or promotional purposes without your separate written consent.

8. Privacy

Personal data is handled under our Privacy Policy, which follows GDPR.

9. Our liability

We provide the service on an “as-is” basis. We are liable only for:

  • Direct losses caused by our gross negligence or intentional misconduct, and
  • Any statutory liability we cannot limit under Norwegian law (including product liability and personal-injury liability for gross negligence).

We are not liable for:

  • The conduct of other participants — including what they say to you, how they behave, or what they do after the event. You acknowledge that we cannot verify participants' identity, motives, or suitability. Use your own judgment.
  • Weather, wildlife, trail conditions, or other outdoor hazards inherent to hiking.
  • Indirect or consequential losses (lost income, lost opportunity, emotional distress as a standalone claim), except to the extent Norwegian law says we must be.

Where our liability is not excluded by law, it is limited to the amount you paid for the event in question.

Nothing in this section removes or limits your statutory consumer rights. If a term in this section is more restrictive than Norwegian law allows, it is automatically read to the minimum extent the law permits (avtaleloven §36).

10. Termination / suspension

We can suspend or terminate your access to the service if you violate these terms, the code of conduct, or the participation waiver. If we terminate without cause, we refund any paid-but-not-yet-attended events on a pro-rata basis.

You can stop using the service at any time by not buying more tickets. To delete your data, email us — see the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes (changes to refund terms, liability, code of conduct) take effect 14 days after we update this page and notify you by email or in-app. Your continued use after that counts as acceptance. Non-material changes (typo fixes, clarifications) take effect immediately.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes first go through our support at info@singlemingle.io — we aim to respond within 24 hours.

If we can't resolve the dispute in good faith, Norwegian consumers can escalate free of charge to Forbrukertilsynet or use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform. Any court action is subject to the jurisdiction of Oslo tingrett, without prejudice to your right as a consumer to bring claims in the courts of your country of residence.
